The Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR) is the biggest change in food regulation in over 25 years. It applies to all food, consolidates 14 different food regulations into 1, strengthens food safety requirements, including requiring traceability of food by all supply chain partners, and governs domestically produced, imported and exported food.

In US Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) has been the most sweeping reform of US food safety laws during last 70 years. It regulates food throughout the supply chain. By changing the focus of food safety from reacting to contamination to preventing it, FSMA places new demands on US and non-US food producers, facilities and importers. They must comply with the new requirements in order to sell and distribute their products to the US market.

We’ll start with an overview regulations and then go in-depth with key examples highlighting questions and their solutions.
